As the weather has deteriorated over the past couple of months, it has been good to see the club still being well utilized by all senior sections of the club.
The 3 senior winter interclub teams have played a couple of times, with one weekend rained off, the men’s singles team is the only one undefeated.
The senior prize giving and Hangi in May was a huge success for the club with 85 tickets sold and everyone having a great day and meal. Check photos on noticeboard. Thanks again to Dick and Desrae Garratt, Lydia Street, and the many helpers that made the day happen.
Upcoming Events:
Summer senior interclub starts in early September (dates to be confirmed) as does the beginning of the new tennis season. We need to have the names into Auckland Tennis in August before the season starts, so we will be asking for names in July. Please check the club noticeboard.
Junior interclub starts approximately 6 weeks later so names are not required until after the season starts.
Subs:
Please note Subs are due on 1 September. As in previous years a $10 Discount will apply to Subs paid before mid September. Fees will be set at AGM.
AGM:
Will be held on Saturday July 27th 2013 at 1pm at club rooms. This is not the official notification, it is to follow shortly. It was noted by a few people last year that they didn’t know some of the people standing for committee, only a name. If you are thinking of joining the committee, you can email a short bio via ‘Contact Us’ section on website and we will circulate at the AGM, or the normal process of putting your name forward at the AGM. We’re always looking for stronger women representation on the committee, so please consider putting your name forward.
The committee has one meeting before the AGM on Tuesday 9th July, if you have any motions or issues you think might be relevant for the committee to discuss before the meeting you may forward them to the ‘Contact Us’ section on the website, or talk to a committee member.
The Cancer Society are looking for around 75 volunteer collectors for Daffodil Day on 30th August for the Botany area. Collectors should be 18 years or over and are needed for approx 2 hour shifts between 9am and 8pm. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the organiser David Bradshaw on 528 1049.
If you didn’t know yet, we have a new website (www.korutennis.co.nz) up and running which is well worth checking out for info and what’s happening at the club. You may also like to update us on changes of address or phone numbers.
See you at the club,
Team Koru
