Summer Interclub updates
The Koru interclub teams are performing very well, except one…
The Twilight Interclub ladies team is in 5th place… but just 4 points behind the leaders. The Second Men R S2 are coming in 4th place 3 points behind the leaders. Our great Ferrier Cup team is coming in 3rd place but with one game in hand. The Presidents A team are sharing the 1st spot with Cockle Bay, well done.
Open men 2 have trailed a new concept, having a beer before the games to calm the nerves. They are in second to last place and 3 out of 4 injured, but they appear calm…
Open men 5 are leading their competition with points to spare, well done Vaughan and the team. Open men 9 are 2nd with one game in hand and 4 points behind Next Generation. Open Presidents 3 are coming in 4th place but are only 3 points behind the leaders. Open women 3 are coming in 3rd place with one game in hand. Our Super Women 2 are cleaning up with maximum points and 5 point ahead of 2nd place. Well done Amy, Wendy, Davina, Lorrene and Leigh. Great new additions to Koru!
Club Champs
Congratulations to Yanick for winning the singles Club Champs. Also, his New Zealand experience is coming to an end and he will go back to Germany in early December. It was great knowing you and you will always be welcomed back at Koru and not just because your name will be on the honours board. Good luck for the future and safe journey back home.
Congratulations to Annie who won the ladies Club Champs and Raz to win the Men Plate.
Koru stand at Pakuranga Heights Primary School
Thank you to all the volunteers that helped organising the Koru stand at the Pakuranga Heights Primary School fun day on Sat 11/11/17. We are an active part of the Pakuranga community and we intend to participate to other school events in the area and attract more juniors to tennis. Please let us know if you can help with this initiative or if you have any contacts within the schools in the area.
Tournaments
The Koru Tennis Club was well represented at the Remuera Tennis Seniors tournament during Labour weekend and chalked up some notable results - see below pics. We were given an honourable mention during Prize Giving for the number Koru players entered in the Tournament. Utu was also awarded “Personality of the tournament”. Great tennis and a good time had by all!
Looking forward to a great summer of tennis. Stay healthy, don’t forget the sun screen and enjoy your games. The vets are having great days, the midweek ladies enjoy the right balance of tennis, cups of tea and chats and the Club Days are always full. The juniors are enjoying the coaching, good to see them happy while learning and exercising, thank you Paula and Tim.
