The summer is being kind to us all and we continue to have great attendance at our club days and Super Senior/Vets sessions. It’s great to see everyone able to be outside and enjoying their tennis. We hope you continue to keep safe from omicron and follow our Covid protection protocols at the club.
A few items to note.
The end of the cash bar
From the 1st May we will be phasing out cash at the bar. There are a number of reasons that have led to this decision. The majority of our members now pay by card and with Covid many businesses are reducing the risk of infection by removing the handling of cash. Security-wise this will ensure we don’t have too much cash on the premises. The removal of cash transactions will save admin time for the treasurer and reduce the responsibilities of the bar manager and enable us to keep our prices down. Please talk to us if this will impact you negatively and I’m sure we will be able to come to an arrangement.
Club Maintenance
The observant ones amongst you will have noted the grand job Dean has done in cleaning up the old deck. The plan is to stain the whole deck towards the end of April and re-spray the courts to reduce moss growth ready for the winter.
We also plan to re-furbish the club indoor furniture in the near future.
Junior and Senior Interclub
Despite a few challenges at times with getting replacement players, most interclub teams are managing to complete their matches. Senior teams doing particularly well are the Ferrier Cup team (towards the top) and Men’s 1st grade and Open Men’s 7 which are both currently in 3 rd place.
Our junior boys 12 team in Section 1 and our Boys 16/14’s team are both currently top of the table in 1 st place. Our beginners 12 and under team had their first win on Sunday – yay! Well done to all of the junior teams.
