We have some exciting news to share in terms of our coaching team this year. Please read below the introduction message from our coach.
Hello everyone, My name is Gabriel Hernandez, and I’ve been Sunnyhills tennis club head coach for about 5 yrs now. Although never officially a Koru Tennis Club coach, you may have seen me coaching, mostly in the winter when I do some coaching after school at Koru's courts.
I’m glad to announce, that myself (as Koru TC’s new head coach) and my coaching team, will be taking over all coaching programs at Koru, starting term 4.
We look forward to working together, as Sunnyhills tennis club and Koru tennis club, have had a great and strong relationship, helping each other in many ways for a number of years now. This new partnership will only grow the potential of both clubs in terms of what we’re able to offer to juniors and adults.
The Saturday coaching and the Thursday interclub group coaching will be run by our new club coach Ezequiel. He’s great with kids and has a very social personality. Please approach him when you have a chance to have a word with him. Koru’s very own Jedric Garcia will also be an assistant coach on Saturdays.
Our team (we have different tiers of coaches at different rates) is also available for private coaching throughout the week. In the holidays as well, we normally take a small group of juniors, to compete on some tournaments around Auckland (great opportunity to get some more match experience and improve your child’s tennis rankings. These are also run all year around). And in the winter terms, we also run our in-house winter junior match-play series –together with Howick tennis club- which was a huge success this past winter that we run it for the first time.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Sue, Ezequiel or myself directly.
Regards,
Gabriel
We have been working hard to establish a start date for our junior coaching, bearing in mind we are currently only allowed bubbles of 9 plus a coach, and we are unsure when alert levels and steps will change.
Our plan is to have a JUNIOR REGISTRATION day THIS Saturday 16 th October. If parents of children 11 and under come along between 9-10am and parents of 11 and over aim for between 10-11am then hopefully we can keep the appropriate social distance. We will have Eftpos facilities available for payment of fees or you can pay via internet banking.
Saturday coaching will begin on Saturday 23 rd October at the usual times, 9-10am for under 11 and 10-11am for 11 and over. If there is still a need to play only in bubbles of 10 we will organise that on the day.
Thursday coaching for interclub team players will begin Thursday 21 st October from 3.30pm onwards. Parents of those players will receive a separate email with your time on it.
We hope there will be a lowering of alert levels in the near future and the opportunity to enjoy our tennis.
Keep safe.
