Club Day
The club days are always busy and the games organisers have been scratching their heads to ensure everyone is happy with the games and we do not wait around.
The people that like to play singles have another option now with organised play on Monday evenings from 7pm and 8pm on a new format (more details below in this email).
The club day changes and will be on Saturdays from the 13th April 2019 due to winter Interclub on Sundays morning.
Vets and Midweek ladies
The vets program is going very strong with turnout of up to 40 players and also members from other local clubs coming over…. word is out that this little club has a great thing going.
Elizabeth and Chick are running the board volunteering twice a week, big thank you to both of them making such a successful days tennis for all.
Midweek ladies are busy too with new members and strong games.
Juniors and Intermediates
We've had a steady turn out of about 20-25 under 11's and about on average 10-12 intermediates on Saturdays. They are improving nicely and quite a few expressed their interest in catching up for some games in the winter months. The last junior coaching session will be on Saturday 13/04/19 from 9-11AM.
There will be an Easter Egg hunt and fun games for all followed by a shared morning tea. Please bring a plate to share.
The new season will begin on the first weekend in September 2019.
Note that your access card will still be active, so do come down for a hit and keep in touch with us. We will be looking at ways to keep the kids interested in tennis and we are talking with Tim and might still have some sessions in the winter if there are enough of you interested.
The Court time for junior training members is dedicated only for them, so just a gentle reminder that the courts are solely for junior coaching on Saturday mornings between 9-11am.
Other players, siblings or parents on the court can be disruptive and a potential hazard.
We have a few junior tennis rackets for sale, some are brand new and at very good prices, please come and see Sue or Tim if you are interested. You can talk to Tim and get his opinion to ensure you get the right size.
Tim wanted to share how much he enjoys coaching the current group of Koru kids and how much potential there is in the groups.
Thanks also to our assistant coaches – Haree and Katie.
Coaching
Our coach, Tim, is available for extra coaching, individual or small groups…. Please use the contact form for more details.
Gabriel, the coach from Sunnyhills, will also be coaching at Koru in the winter months and we are also accommodating Kiwitennis classes on certain evenings.
There will be also cardio tennis and individual coaching so check out the notice boards at the club if you are interested or talk to Tim.
Club's Facilities
The facilities upgrade is almost complete. The new toilet facilities, the new bar, weatherboard cladding, new fridge and repairs, upgraded plumbing, new security alarm and monitoring and other works will give us a club to really be proud of. We will organise a working bee in a final push to get the club cleaned up and then it will be time for a party… Details to be confirmed soon.
One of the improvements is the access to the WC when club is closed. Please bring your access card to the club so we can add the access rights. Note that when the club is open the outer door is disabled and the access to that WC becomes possible only from inside the club.
Note that we have now EftPos facilities so you do not need to carry cash all the time.

Fisher Cup & Cucksey Shield
Sunday 7 April 2019
Host Club: Cockle Bay
Also games will be played at Koru, good luck to out teams. These are annual tournaments in which all the local clubs compete, your support is appreciated, see you at the club.
Health And Safety
We would like you to stay healthy and enjoy your tennis. With winter coming and wet days please be mindful that the tennis balls can be wet, heavier and courts can be slippery. We continue to have the courts groomed and to ensure the drainage is clear and optimal. Please ensure you wear the right tennis shoes and that you warm up properly before starting the play. Running shoes are not providing the same support as purposely made tennis shoes and your risk for injury is much higher. Please contact the coach or a committee member if you are unsure of what is the best equipment to use, not just the right racket for you…
