Juniors
The junior section of Koru Tennis Club offers a full hot shots graded programme, catering for all levels from beginner to interclub level.
Our 2023/2024 summer junior programme runs from mid September until mid April (terms 4 & 1 of the school year).
The junior membership fee includes weekly Saturday coaching according to ability level, by a NZTA qualified coach, supported by our junior assistant coaches. The membership includes a membership card so a child and parent can access the courts outside of organised play times to practice the junior’s skills.

For those who wish to play at a more competitive level we have run a number of interclub teams over the last few years, with our Under 12 boys team winning Section 1 in the post-Xmas 2022 competition.
Interclub players also have an additional weekly training session during the competitive season. Some of our interclub players have also participated in Auckland wide competitions such as the Albany Autumn Junior Tournament – Leo and Austin (pictured) reaching the final & Oscar leading the board in the Wilson Winter Satellite Series 2022. |
Koru offers a winter coaching programme on a user-pays basis for those who would like to continue to play over the winter months. Additionally, for inter-club level players we have the winter-match play series with Howick and Sunnyhills clubs.
Usually in the January holidays we run a school holiday programme which is always well attended and lots of fun. We sometimes combine with Sunnyhills Club to offer an alternative in the other school holidays. |
It’s not just tennis at Koru. Every year we have a Christmas party with a waterslide and at the end of the season a junior prize-giving following our Junior Club Championships where we award trophies and certificates.
In addition, we have a family social pizza night and Easter is always celebrated with the Koru Easter Egg Hunt.
