As the winter approaches let’s hope the weather continues to allow us to play our tennis as much as possible. Please note senior club day is now on Saturdays from 1pm.
It’s been a quiet couple of months at the club with interclub finished. Final results for all sections show a consistency in Koru teams generally coming in the middle of their sections!! One notable result for our club is Koru’s Superwomen 2 team who came top of their section – congratulations to those fearsome ladies!
Sponsors
We would like to thank our court signage sponsors for 2022/23, namely:
- Hafele NZ Ltd (via Raz & George Iugan)
- Bits at Work (Gelu Rosioru)
- Ray White Realty (Candace Williams)

Senior Prizegiving
The Senior prizegiving will take place on Saturday 20 th May from 6.30pm onwards. All are welcome to attend, finger food will be available and hopefully dancing later in the evening! Sign up on the sheet on the board and let us know you are coming. It’ll be a fun night.
Junior News
A successful end of season Junior Prizegiving and Easter egg hunt was held on Saturday 1 st April with great attendance. Congratulations to all the section Junior Champions and all those who played in the spirit of the tournament.
Many thanks to our coaches for this season, Camila, Jedric, Robin and Krisha. We have had increasing numbers through this season with over 65 juniors now on the books. We wish Camila all the best for the upcoming birth of her baby and hope to see her back at Koru at some point.
The three junior interclub teams acquitted themselves well post-Xmas. Particular mention should go to the Under 14 boys’ team who led their section most of the season and were only just ‘pipped at the post’ by Cockle Bay. Well played boys.
Winter coaching opportunities are available on a pay as you go basis, if interested please contact Head Coach, Gabriel Hernandez: gabrielhernandeztennis@gmail.com or tel - 0210 259 9086

The first is scheduled for Sunday 28th May, so if you want to watch some top-class junior play come along to the club for an hour or so. Unfortunately, this means the courts will be unavailable to members until after 4.30pm.
Cucksey Shield
The annual Cucksey Shield & Fisher Cup is scheduled for Sunday 30 April. It's an all-day team’s event, with competing teams from all clubs in the Howick/Pakuranga area. Koru will be represented by a team of 6 men & 6 women in both competitions. Please make yourself available if selected. Unfortunately, it does mean our courts will be blocked out for members use until approx. 4pm that day. For those not playing, you're welcome to come along to support Koru on the day. We will be hosting the Cucksey 1&2 women & Men pairs at Koru TC.
Planning ahead
The committee have accepted a quote to install a pergola over the front deck to provide shade for us all on those hot days. There will be a little disruption during the installation of this which will take place during the winter months, date to be confirmed.
