Love Tennis
Wow what a turn out!
Both from the community and from our members. A BIG thank you to all those who came along on Sunday 10th and supported the club by giving freely of their time. It was a fantastic response from members.
We signed up 17 new junior and 6 new senior members and the new membership forms are still coming in. Thank you in particular to our 4 coaches for the day - Ezequiel, Jedric, Krisha and Keean and to our amazing face painting girls Maya and Carla.
Winners on the Day
Raffle Prize Winners – Gelu & Hiromi
Jellybean jar winner – Sarah Zhang
Colouring competition – Yaqi – Year 4 Elm Park
2 Free junior memberships – Rinaya & Koo
2 racquet winners – Lynn & Dion
A warm Welcome to all new members. We hope you enjoy playing tennis at Koru.
Interclub
Open Men’s 5 team – Player of the Day – Kevin McManus. At the tender age of 77, Kevin filled in for the team at the last minute. After a doubles game he played 2 sets of singles against a 16-year-old and then a super tiebreaker and nearly won! Well done Kevin for stepping in at the last minute and playing so well.
Junior Coaching Term 4
We would like to welcome our new Senior Coach for term 4 Damir Misic from Croatia.
See details on our Coaching page.
Beginner Adult Group
We would like to set up a beginner’s adult coaching group again on a Tuesday or Thursday night for 1 hour during term 4. It would most likely be about 7-8pm and would run for 8 weeks. The cost would be $70 for 8 sessions paid in advance or $15 a class. There would be an opportunity to play some social tennis prior to the lesson with others and make connections with other beginners. If you are interested, please inquire at the club rooms.
Table Tennis Tournament
Singles Champion for the second-year running was Darrin Kocsis Doubles Champions were Jim & Tania in a close fought final against Raz and Warren.
Did you know that apparently tennis increases longevity more than any other form of exercise!
If you have any ideas to improve our club, feel free to approach one of the committee and share.
Take care and keep moving on the court.
